SINGLES - Mark 11:1-10
Jesus was about to reveal His glory. He needed a colt to carry Him.
There are definite things God wants to achieve in our singles to
bring Him glory.
- He needs to tie them down, to be reserved for glory. They must not be ridden by others; violated by sin.
- He needs them to roam around the radius of the rope and not engage in non expedients, though lawful things.
- Tied down with JESUS through the Gospel and in their discipleship.
- V7-8. The colt received honour with Jesus; walked on red carpet.
Lose colts roam around. They are ridden by different men - for fun, for
business, for training, etc.
- These lives are ruined before God can lay hold on them.
- They look free and happy; can do whatever they want, spend however they want, marry whoever they want, but battered, damaged and need ICU (intensive care unit) before God can use them. Wasted time and life. Excess baggage.
Examples of tied down
colts:
Joseph, David, Daniel, Joshua, Jeremiah, Esther, Phillip's 4
daughters, Mary, Amy Carmichael, Gladys Aylward, Jim Eliott, Timothy, Titus, Rhoda (Acts 12:12-16), Mark, etc...Tied colts
are tied to JESUS!
Examples of loose colts:
Reuben (Genesis 35:22, 49:3-4, Mark 5:1-17), Dinah (Genesis 34:1-6), Judas Iscariot,
Demas, Adonijah, Absalom, world stars, etc...Loose colts are lost!
Lord, thank You for our singles.
Lord, thank You for our singles.
- Let the Gospel work on our young men and women, our singles. Establish them on the Gospel.
- Make them rooted inside Christ. Let them be delighted only to roam within the radius of Christ.
- Remove the appetite for youthful foolishness and exuberance from them.
- Settle their heart and desire in being reserved to carry Christ. Help them keep themselves from sin, sinful habits, idols, worldliness, etc...
- Help them engage in their discipleship and holy use for God, like Rhoda, Mark, Timothy, etc...
- Ride triumphantly on their lives, Lord, and let heaven celebrate them while they are single.
- Reward them with the right men/women for them. Colts also tied down for You.
- Bring back all our loose colts. Repair them and tie them down to Yourself.
